Feeling Drained? The Truth About REAL Vampires

Published by Dark Passenger at 11:55 pm under Vampires and Vampirism Edit This

The lines between fact and fiction, reality and fantasy are becoming increasingly blurred with each passing day.  As discussed in Part 1 of our look at real vampires, many myths have been dispelled; however, new truths have replaced much of the lore about those who drink blood.  We also touched on the fact that a second classification of vampire exist: Psychic Vampires.

Though doing a search of “psychic vampires” will turn up the same information, it is actually a misnomer.  Calling a vampire psychic implies they possess psychic gifts.  While some vampires - both Psi and Sang - do have extra gifts, just as do many non-vampires, that is not what defines this classification of vampire.  The more correct term would be “energy” or “psi” as this vampire classification is defined by their inability to produce and properly store their own energy.

So how do Psi-Vampires feed?

This is where things get a bit more tricky.  With sanguinarians, feeding is more straight-forward as there’s really only one way to drink blood; it’s the methods by which it can be obtained that vary.  Before we can understand how psi-vamps feed we should understand the different sources of energy, or prana, available.  The most common kind of energy available is emotional energy.  Other sources include energy from crowds and environmental energy.

In order to understand how psi-vampires feed, it is necessary to first discuss the energy field around all living things known as an aura.  A “normal” person’s aura will have a vibrant, healthy field around them with no breaks.  Conversely, a psi-vamp’s aura will be weak and sickly in appearance.  Another distinguishing characteristic of their aura are bits of energy coming off that give the appearance of tentacles.  It is through these tentacles a psi-vamp is able to feed from another’s aura.

This is where our discussion becomes even more theoretical than it already was.

The first thing a new psi-vampire must learn is how to feed as obtaining energy is of utmost importance to their healthy survival.  Unfortunately, it’s more complicated to do so than one might think.  Most people go through life giving very little, if any, thought to any extra sensory abilities they may possess so it can take a little time to figure out how to channel their will in order to control their energy feeding.  However, once they’ve practiced for a while it becomes more and more automatic to control from who or where and how much they feed.

So…Are you a Psi-Vampire?  Oddly enough, you wouldn’t realize it at first if you were…

Join me Monday for part 3 of our look at The Truth About REAL Vampires when we’ll delve into the theories behind how they became vampires.  We’ll also take a look at the most popular question non-vampires ask on vampire message boards: Can you make me a vampire?

The answer just might surprise you!
