Are You Awake? The Truth About REAL Vampires

Published by Dark Passenger at 11:33 pm under Vampires and Vampirism Edit This

Troy StoiSo far in our discussion on real life vampires we’ve taken a look at sanguinarian vampires, psi-vampires and the believed origins of these mythical creatures turned reality.  (Feel free to click on the links if you missed any of the previous parts.)  A funny side-note: when I told my mother about this series she asked if they all lived in Transylvania.  It amuses me how so much of the vampire lore has become second nature to us.  Anyway, it would seem I’ve also dashed the hopes of everyone running searches on how they can become a vampire by revealing one cannot become vampire, they must be born vampire.

So, let’s get down to our discussion topic for tonight: How do real vampires learn they were born a vampire?

An “Awakening” is when a person comes to understand that they are a vampire.  Michelle Belanger, one who is thought to be an expert on real vampires and is a respected member of the vampire community, says it so much better than I ever could so let me give you the links to two excellent articles of hers and to the site where I found everything.  The first is entitled, “Awakening and Pre-Awakening” and the second is “The Price of Awareness.”  Both of these articles were taken from the SphinxCatVP website and I’ve found that I could quite literally spend hours digesting all the contents of this site.

Okay, so enough of my vamp-site love-fest and back to the topic of the vampiric awakening.  From what I’ve been able to gather from a host of sources, the awakening can be different for each kind (species, if you will) of vampire.  Sanguinarian vampires seem to awaken most commonly through the consumption of blood - either accidental or purposeful.  This is believed to be at least part of the reason why it is believed that vampires “sire” other vampires through the process of draining their blood and then letting them feed on their vampiric blood.  What is most likely occurring here is that the sanguinarian vampire is attempting to awaken the sleeping vampire by letting them feed on their blood, thus showing them the gnawing craving within them is for blood.  It should be noted here that a vampire feeding on the blood of another vampire would do very little for either as the substance for which they hunger is not present in vampiric blood.

For the Psi-Vampire (psychic vampire) the experience can be quite different as ingesting blood may have little to no effect on them.  They still crave energy, just pranic energy instead of that found within human blood.  Some would say an unawakened psi-vampire is the most dangerous vampire out there.  Do you remember when we discussed Sympathetic Vampirism a few days ago and I said we’d get back to that?  Well, here it comes.

Both species of vampire need to feed in order to obtain the energy they need.  The difference is that a sanguinarian vampire cannot accidentally drink someone’s blood; either they know they’re doing it or they aren’t getting any.  Psi-vampires are different because their feeding takes place on a psychic level of sorts, an unawakened vampire can feed from the aura of another without their conscious knowledge.  What makes this so dangerous is that they are unable to control the quantity of energy they take or even the source.  Imagine a person who already has a weakened aura or is in poor health having vital energy drained away from them.  The human body is resilient in that it will seek to preserve itself when faced with sickness and attack, thus causing a non-vampire to begin to unconsciously drain pranic energy from others. (Sympathetic Vampirism)

Did any of that make sense or did I just get too caught up in what I was thinking in my own head about it?

It is because psi-vampires can sustain their pranic energy levels without being consciously aware of their feeding that the awakening process seems to be so different for them.  Some might experience intense periods of depression (typically not bipolar disorder though that would not be out of the realm of possibility) while others might find they are sick often just before they awaken.  Rather than reinvent the wheel, please visit the site listed above as there are a number of articles about the psi-vampire awakening.

Here’s the main thing to remember, y’all…No one can tell you who you are just as one word cannot define your life.  Only you can decide if you’re a vampire - sanguinarian or psi - and how you’ll react to that knowledge if you are.  A few words of caution that I’ve found a number of places:

  • Have yourself checked out medically before you decide you’re a vampire and there’s no other option.  There are disorders out there with symptoms similar to those of vampirism
  • Be careful who you reveal yourself to if you are a vampire.  Not everyone will understand.  Some will assume you’re crazy; others that you’re dangerous.  There are even those who’ve threatened some online communities, saying they’re vampire slayers and will be coming for them.  Most of these people are believed to be perpetrating hoaxes, but…you never know, you know?
  • Act with extreme caution when interacting with those in the vampire community.  I say this not because vampires are dangerous, but because there is a very real threat from online predators.  Those who want to meet you in person could have deadly intentions.  Take all necessary precautions if you’re considering meeting someone - vampire or human - you’ve met on the internet.

Now that we understand how intentional and accidental psi-attacks occur, you might be wondering if you’re in danger of an attack.  There’s no simple answer to that question, but since you wouldn’t know if your coworker was a vampire unless they told you, being prepared never hurts.  So, do you have any clue how to protect yourself from a vampire attack?

Join me on Monday for Part 5  when we’ll discuss ways to tell if you’ve been targeted for attack and a few strategies for protecting yourself.

I was wondering if you could give me more information regarding psi-vampires. From what i have read i appear to be going through the awakening process at this moment, due to the symptoms that i have which i cast asside as something different, it wasnt until i went to the doctors and there was no explination that i started to become more curious and this was when i stumbled across this and began to do a lot of research into it. At this moment i am not claiming to be 100% sure of being a vampire but would de very grateful if you could give me some more information on the subject.

    Many Thanks
    Ashlene Robb

    Hi Ashlene.

I wrote about psi vampires on December 11th, but I’m guessing that didn’t answer your questions. What specifically would you like to know about psi-vampires? If you don’t want to ask your questions in public view, please feel free to use the Contact Me tab up top to send me a private e-mail.

    What symptoms are you having?

  3. Dark Passengeron 11 May 2009 at 8:11 pm edit this

    Hi Lizeth.

First, let me say that there is absolutely no reason to be afraid of. You’re going to be just fine.

I’ll try to shoot you an e-mail, but this week looks fairly insane. If you haven’t heard from me by mid-week then please do send me a message using the contact form at the top. In the meantime, before jumping to the vampire conclusion, make sure to check out any medical issues that may be causing your depression and any other symptoms you have going on. Vampirism should be looked upon as the last resort “diagnosis.”

Hey , thanks 4 the great series about vampire ..

well , i am having something which i could’t understand like feelings , headaches , & every time i open the net i found my self searching about vampire .

    I don’t know what is happening to me , i am a teenager & nowadays i was hoping 2 be a vampire ..

is this the awaking or it’s just happening because i had hoped to be one ..

& can someone make thier awaking process come earlier ..

    Thanks ,
    Julia

Julia - Thanks for the kudos!! Your question is one that’s probably a more common question than you might think.

I think I would probably consider all other options before jumping on the “I must be a vamp” bandwagon. Headaches can be the precursor of or a symptom of any number of physical ailments. Actually, headaches can also be a symptom of psychic abilities manifesting themselves…

As for having unexplainable feelings, and I’m sure you’re sick to death of this answer to various questions, it could be a result of the natural changes happening to you because you’re a teenager. The funny thing is that even though we all go through hormonal and mental changes during our teen years, we all refuse to admit we’re going through them at the time…then we look back years later and laugh at how silly we were for thinking the natural biological order of things don’t apply to us.

It’s also entirely possible that you find yourself searching vampires because they’re everywhere in movies, books and television right now. It seems like vampirism comes back in favor every 10 years or so and everyone becomes obsessed with them.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying there’s no possible way you could be a vampire or anything. I’m just saying that I would assume it to be the last option as opposed to the first…if that makes sense. :)

Oh, and I’m not 100% sure if a vampire can make themselves awaken sooner or not. I think it’s sort of like going through puberty…it happens when it happens and no amount of eyeshadow and bra-stuffing makes it come any sooner. (Puberty, not vampire awakening…though I would find it amusing if someone did try to hurry along their vamp awakening by stuffing their bra!) :P

Hi, I’ve read your article and i was wondering if you could help me out here… I’m in my mid-teens and for the past few years I have felt a strange hunger, that seems to take a lot of food, or just won’t go away. My eyes, recently, can’t take sunlight as well as they used to, and I’m having to wear sunglasses so they don’t get hurt. Whenever I get into a wrestling match with either my brother, or whoever it is, I get this urge to bite them, and when I do sometimes, my lower jaw aches in a way that I can only describe as tempting, and I just want to keep biting and draw blood, but I don’t want to hurt them. I have also recently(over the summer) been unable to really sleep at night, and my best sleeping is my naps during the day that I can’t avoid. Walking past the frozen meat section in the grocery store makes my mouth water, and I can’t take my eyes away for a few seconds. Although I have never tasted blood before, I have always had a deep fascination for it. The color, the texture, etc. And all I have been able to think about/look up lately is vampires, and recipes for sang vamps. If you think its because I’m about to awaken/are awakening, please lemme know?

John and Amanda - Rather than answering you here, I’m going to do my next blog post on it. (I find comments can be difficult to read when I post really long responses.)

    hi,
i’ve being looking on the net and have found some worrying things.
i’m slighty concerned that i’m becoming one of the undead.
when i go on the net i find myself searching the web about vampires.
i have started to go through a stage where i hav started to get more sleepy in the day and barely sleep at night.
my teeth have started to become longer and sharper.
i don’t like being in the sunlight and have taken a sudden intrest in blood.
please tell me if i am becoming one of the undead and if so, what type and how long will the awakening last?
    thanks
    Rebecca

Sorry to burst your bubble, but vamps aren’t undead. Unless…*looks around in terror*…You aren’t writing me from inside a movie, are you?
