The Anagram Enigma
Promptly eke out a soul, ye moron! Yes, actor…Danger be unwise.
As you might have figured out, dark passengers, I wasn’t much in the writing mood tonight. I looked around for some paranormal delight or supernatural snippet for y’all yet I came up short at each and every turn. So I had no intention of writing at all this Supernatural Saturday until something so ridiculous popped up that I just couldn’t resist.
Tell me, do you know about the Anagram Enigma?
Surely you know about anagrams. They’re those harmless games where you scramble words around to make new ones. Anyone who’s played Scrabble knows what I’m talking about here. But do my fellow wordsmiths know how a simple anagram could be have a paranormal connection?
Do you?
It’s okay. I didn’t either. Not until tonight. Here’s what I know:
- Space Shuttle Challenger Launch anagrams to cheapest hull, ungallant screech! (Not sure where the exclamation point came from)
- Space Shuttle Challenger anagrams to The ascent, cruel hell, gasps! (I think they must just pop up out of nowhere! Look it just happened again.)
- Space Shuttle Columbia anagrams to Is a comet thus culpable? (Seriously? Now question marks are materializing?)
So basically, it would seem certain shuttle missions were doomed by some sort of paranormal design from the start. It seems to me a lot of tragedy could have been avoided had anyone bothered to play a bit of Scrabble with the names first. I’m very disappointed in NASA for this oversight.
But I bet this little parlor trick doesn’t work on anything else. Let’s see:
- Statue of Liberty anagrams to Built to Stay Free
- God Save Us All anagrams to Salvaged Soul
- George Bush anagrams to He Bugs Gore
- Do An Angry Hit anagrams to Tonya Harding
- Torchwood anagrams to Doctor Who (FYI- Torchwood is the Dr. Who spinoff)
- Gregory House anagrams to Huge ego, sorry
Okay, okay…my turn to play with the generator and see what I come up with…
- Adolf Hitler anagrams to Triad of Hell
- George W Bush anagrams to Ego Brews…ugh!
- President Barack Obama anagrams to A Barbarian Mocked Pet (wtf?)
- President Barack Obama also anagrams to Pandora Karma Bisect Be (And we all remember the story of Pandora and her infamous box, yes? Not a karma I’d want to bisect with)
Well, that was sort of fun - I guess. But now it’s time to let y’all play with the anagram generator for yourself. I will leave you with this, however, dark passengers. I did a few searches of a more personal nature and this is what I got:
- Writer J. Nicole Whitten (my pen name) anagrams to Rejection Whittler Win (Does that mean I get to wear down rejection like it’s a piece of wood and I’ve got a little knife until I win?)
- And that nonsense from the beginning? “Promptly eek out a soul, ye moron! Yes, actor…Danger be unwise.” If you guessed that it anagrams to “Let your dark passenger come out to play…Be your own nemesis!” then you get a gold star.
So now it’s your turn to give it a shot. It’s up to you to decide if there’s something supernatural to the Anagram Enigma or if it’s just a matter of looking for things that don’t exist until you create something. Have fun!

That was awesome, really enjoyed that one. Keep up the good work.
Thanks!
a malaysian abroad: A Salaam Aid Any Bro, or Mania? Alas! A byroad! (those punctuation marks just snuck right in there!!).
this is fun! Thanks for the time-waster
It’ll be more grammatical if you render it as “eke out a soul”–the eek you’re using is onomatopoeia only.
Most of what I get with the phrases I use is gibberish, more’s the pity. Could just be that I don’t know who I am or what I’m looking for yet.
David - Don’t forget to let us know if all your searches come up with anything good. Have you tried “occult view,” anakin bush or obama skywalker yet? :p
Lynne - I’m always glad to provide a way to waste to time. It’s my job!
Ravyn - Thanks for pointing that out. I didn’t think it looked right, but I was way to tired to put any thought into it. Shows what I get for relying on spell check.
ooh, I’ll have to try!
