Dark Passengers Please Read and Weigh In…

Published by Dark Passenger at 4:12 am under Announcements Edit This

Hey there, fellow dark passengers.  I’ve been thinking about something lately and I thought it was time to get it out of my head and put it out there for everyone else to help me mull over.  Obviously, this is a question for anyone who reads anything on this site, but I think it might be of particular interest to fans of Conspiracy Theory Thursdays, Fang Bangin’ Fridays, Supernatural Saturdays and Spiritual Sampling Sundays.

So here’s the thing, y’all…Some of you already know I write fiction because it’s sort of a passion of mine.  (And if you didn’t before then you do now.)  Anyway, I’ve had it in my mind for a while now that I’d like to take the research I’ve been doing on real vampires, empaths, psychics, conspiracy theories and really all things paranormal and turn it into one of my edgy and erotic works of fiction.  (Yeah, I dabble in smut…what of it?  Ask Star if I’m any good at it because I’m not objective…)

I suppose what I’m wondering is whether there’s even any interest out there in reading something like that.  I know the market is hot for immortal vampire fic right now, but this is a little different.  Oh…and I also ask because I’d be posting it online as I complete chapters as opposed to writing a bulky manuscript, tossing pixie dust into the air and hoping to one day get it published.

So what do y’all think?  I’d really appreciate some feedback, even if you’re usually just a lurker on the site.  You don’t even have to come up with anything original to say if you don’t want to because I’ll post some options below.  I could really just use some help deciding on whether it’s worth the effort or not to put out there, you know?

So please please please comment me and let me know:

  • Go for it!  I’ll be your first fang bangin’ fan…
  • Go for it!  But I probably wouldn’t want to read it even though I think a lot of others will…
  • Um…you could try and see…
  • I have no desire to read it and wish you would stick to blogging instead of fiction…
  • No way!  I really wish you’d stop blogging too while you’re at it…
  • Do you ever bleeping shut up?  I hate you and hope you die of ebola or the flu, whichever is most convenient…

It’s in your hands…

Jen

Go for it! But I probably wouldn’t want to read it even though I think a lot of others will…

I’m not really into erotic vampires. All out smut is good though. :-)

Go for it! Are you talking about your own personal spin with vampires and such sort of in the vein of the old school Anne Rice books…. You know the ones I am talking about - I can not think of the titles to save my life and am not at home to just look! Ugh now this will be bugging me all day!! LOL

A, I think there’s a lot of market for this

B, I have no idea how your fiction would be. A good blogger doesn’t necessarily make a good novelist and vice versa. But I’d be willing to read it and find out.

Do you mean The Vampire Chronicles?

Stephanie - I’ve actually been writing fiction about 15 years longer than I’ve been blogging. I won’t profess to be any good though because I tend to think everything I write - fiction, blogs, e-mails, postcards, grocery lists, etc - is total crap. I’m told I’m good though that could just be people being nice.

So there we are…I’ve cleared up exactly nothing for anyone. :)

Why not go for it? You can stretch the limits of your imagination wide and fly. I will pop in and read!

You already know what I’m going to say. I can’t wait until you’re unbelievably famous and say I told you so! You’re so freakin talented! You need to go for it. If I could write half as good as you I’d do it.

    In other words :
Go for it! I’ll be your first fang bangin’ fan!

And for the record, you’re awesome at smut!!! We need the whip smiley here!!! See all the exclamation points smut and the whip smiley get :)

Do you ever bleeping shut up? I hate you and hope you die of ebola or the flu, whichever is most convenient… lol I’m just messin’

I would say go for it. Life is too short to hesitate. Who knows! I might read it! lol I say that because it’s been a while since I’ve bought books… I usually just rent from my library.

If you make it about romance… then I doubt I will read it :P Too sappy for me. Although, if it’s edgy and action-y then I’ll think about it…

    I’m gonna stop so I don’t keep rambling on… :)

Do it…I can’t wait. By the way, hate to be a stranger, but I am buried in anatomy II.

Go for it - all writing is good writing, no?

Wow. I don’t know that I expected such an overwhelming response. I’ll make an announcement once I’ve got the site and figured out what software is good for something like this. Obviously, running it as a blog wouldn’t work too well since you’d know the ending first, but I could probably work around that if I needed to.

No plans on stopping this blog…in case any one was curious.

    Thanks for your support.

I think you should go for it, I am not much for the smut part but I would read everything else. I like different twists on vamps or any other supernatural being.

I think you should go for it too. I’m not much into vampires, empaths, psychics, conspiracy theories, the paranormal or erotic works of fiction - but aside from that it sounds fantastic.

    Hmm…so basically you like the “the”s and “and”s? :P

  16. seandonlandon 12 Feb 2009 at 7:52 am edit this

Haha, Exactly! Nobody writes ‘the’ the way you do.

  17. jenwhittenon 12 Feb 2009 at 5:20 pm edit this

That is so true. Okay, this is just for you…

The and the and and…THE. :P
