Thank You, Dr. Moron

I swear, I should be seeing the doctor in the picture instead of my moron specialist.  Would you like to know what Dr. Moron’s office had to say?Oh, I’ll tell you, but first I need to back up and let you know what happened on Tuesday at my appointment.  FYI - My dark passenger is pissed.

Okay, so we were checking my thyroid levels to make sure I’m not about to die or anything - turns out I’m not - and she goes over my medications.  I tell her that I’ve been taking 2.5mg of the thyroid medication just as she told me too, even though it seemed way too low.  She looked at me like I was stupid because she told me to take the whole pill, not half the pill.

Guess what?  I have a photographic memory.  Plus, I wouldn’t start ripping my pills in half for no reason.  Come on, y’all…that takes extra effort and we all know I’m lazy.  I even called hubby afterwards since he was sitting right there.  He confirms I was, in fact, told to take 2.5mg.

Perhaps if she could read her own handwriting then she would have remembered that fact…

Anyway, I started taking 5mg when I realized I was WAY too hyper for her half dose BS.  I get a call from her office to inform me I should continue at 2.5mg.  WTF?  Are they stupid?  First they don’t know what they prescribed and now they don’t know what dose I’m currently on?  I’m pretty sure they’re all high on crack up there.

What about the beta blocker I was on? (You know, the one that made me totally crash when I was off it for a mere two days.)  Yeah, I’ve been instructed to cut that dose in half for a week and then discontinue it altogether because - get this - my thyroid levels look fine.

I guess they forgot the beta blocker wasn’t prescribed because of the thyroid, but because of the racing heart rate…the racing heart rate I had years before I ever had a thyroid problem.

You know, Dr. Kitty might also end up being full of crap, but at least she’d purr and flip over after making an ass out of the medical profession.

Can you say second opinion, boys and girls?  I sure can.

Jen

It could be worse. Dr. Tinycat could be my actual doctor. ;)

I think I would prefer Dr. Tinycat. The doctor I have now is the same one who delivered me but never has any idea who I am when I come in. And she is either exceedingly stupid or just doesn’t listen. Here’s an example of an exchange between us…

Me: I think I might have type 2 diabetes. I have no family history of it but I have a friend who is diabetic and he tested my blood sugar and it was really high. I also have a lot of the symptoms.

Dr. Dumbsh*t: Okay. What are your symptoms?

Me: Always thirsty. Always tired. Blurred vision.

Dr. Dumbsh*t: And you have no idea what it could be?

Me: What?! I said I thi-

Dr Dumbsh*t: It could be type 2 diabetes. Do you have any family history of diabetes?

    Me: …..

Simply put, Doctors can be f-ing stupid.

Yet another way people don’t get listened to. Wouldn’t it be nice if we could talk and actually have somebody LISTEN?

Even with insurance, I pay around $100 a doctor’s visit, and that means my doctor had better listen to me. I know they have lots of patients. I know they are preoccupied. But if they don’t get this right, it affects my health. And that’s not okay. I’m paying far too much for their time to get nothing for it.

    I’d switch doctors.

I think we’re gonna have to bust out Syd and Bunny on them! Maybe you should make an appointment with Dr. Tinycat.

P.S. That is one of my all time fave pics!

New doctor. Seriously. A doctor that won’t listen and isn’t responsive to your needs and situation is worse than nothing. Such a doctor is a menace.

I should really be used to this by now, I guess. Oh well. I guess I’ll just take whatever dosage I feel like until I can get a referral over to a new specialist. ;)

Pill party at Jen’s house! Woo!
